Our story
The story of Hope Street began with a small group of committed individuals gathering regularly to pray for a fresh move of God in north Wales.
From these times emerged an idea for a new expression of church that would proclaim the timeless story of Jesus in a contemporary way.
In 2018 the Diocese successfully bid for the former Burtons building at 1 Hope Street.
Rachel and Andy Kitchen, at the invitation of the Bishop of St Asaph, moved to Wrexham in the summer of 2020 with their two children and a small team, to lead Hope Street.
After being involved in church leadership for over 10 years they sensed a call to north Wales growing in their hearts, to join the story of what God is already doing in Wrexham and beyond.
Hope Street was birthed amidst the insecurity of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The uncertainty forced us into dependency upon God. We don't have a map, we have a guide. Armed with a sense of call and a simple vision, Hope Street represents a fresh canvas; the beginning of a new story, the paint being the work of Jesus in the lives of those who join us.
